News Stories to Start Your 2017 New Year in Fort Collins

As a personal injury law firm that is deeply rooted in Fort Collins, Steve Ray Law, PLLC, is excited about what the coming year will bring to our community.

In particular, The Coloradoan reports that three major projects are set to be completed by this fall on the Colorado State University campus. These projects promise to enhance life for students, staff and visitors at the school as well as to improve their safety and the quality of health care they receive.

We hope you pay close attention to these projects throughout 2017. We describe them in more detail below. We also urge you to stay tuned to our Fort Collins personal injury attorney blog to learn about the latest developments in the law that can impact you and your loved ones.

Stadium Project

After playing for 48 years at Hughes Stadium west of campus, CSU’s football team will move into its new, $220 million state-of-the-art on-campus stadium this fall. If you are a Rams football fan, you can’t help but be excited about the stadium’s official debut on September 9.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that the new stadium shows that CSU’s football program “is aiming for the big-time.”

The new Sonny Lubick Field at Colorado State Stadium will seat more than 41,000 fans and feature a 50-by-84-foot video scoreboard in addition to many other features.

By being located on campus, we hope that it makes getting to and from the stadium safer for students.

Underpass

On the west side of the CSU campus, the new underpass at Shields and Elizabeth streets is also set to open this fall.

The CSU Police Department reports that more than 15,000 bicyclists descend on campus each day. So, while the new underpass is designed to increase public safety, motorists should still use caution to prevent bicycle accidents and injuries.

Health and Medical Center

After undergoing construction for more than a year, the new CSU health and medical center will be ready for unveiling in 2017 as well.

The building will occupy 113,000 square feet of space on the corner of Prospect Road and College Avenue. It will provide valuable services to the community through the CSU Health Network, a walk-in clinic and the Columbine Health Systems Center for Healthy Aging.
